  • a woman unpacks her suitcase in a vacation rental
  • "Guest days shes allergic to cats and has to leave because of our ‘Meowdy’ sign."

Guest coming from San Francisco. Already had a bad feeling. Smart lock said she checked at 3:05pm.
  • I got a text message at 3:08pm. She tells me she didn't realize cats live in the home and that she's highly allergic.
  • I tell her no cats live in the home. She sends me a picture of the "Meowdy" sign by the front door.
  • I tell her we're in Texas and the sign is just kitschy decor. She says her throat is already swelling and she's leaving and needs a refund.
  • The irony? We're a pet friendly listing. She is \this\ allergic but booked a pet friendly listing.
  • an orange and white cat sitting on top of a chair
  • The bigger irony? We've only ever had one cat stay with us. That was in October.
  • lol
  • saltyoursalad Ohhh so she's allergic to signs! Classic.
  • OP strikecat18 I think she means to imply we must have a cat because theres a cat sign. But honestly I don't even know. lol
  • Ok_Sea_4405 What's the significance of the guest coming from San Francisco?
  • OP strikecat18 I'm from California. The percentage of people who have special accommodation requests has to be 10x higher for any business there than I ever witness in Texas. My last guest from the Bay Area informed me they were vegan and asked if any of the cookware or dishes had ever contacted meat.
  • TheWorldTurnsAround As a person with severe cat allergies, I can tell you that if you had one cat in there two years ago I would know it. That being said, I do not stay in pet friendly places.
  • OP strikecat18 I realize anything is possible, but I really do not believe anyone would be allergic to our Airbnb. My wife has severe cat allergies and notices nothing there. There's no carpet, we have a large air purifier, a high end robot vacuum patrols daily (so about 100 passes since the last cat trip), the place gets mopped with bleach between all guests, and we have dedicated linens just for the pet stays.
  • Dynomight33 I had a guest book for a last minute stay with a non refundable discount. They immediately canceled because we are pre friendly and they have pet allergies. Refund approved, no problem. Then, within the hour they wanted to book again. I said no and gave them other suggestions. They argued about it. Uh, no. IF they have real pet allergies, this is just a recipe for disaster. If they lied about the allergy, this is the find out part where you don't get to stay because your red flags ar
  • Odd-Till-3078 Lmao she saw "Meowdy" and went into full anaphylactic shock mode? That's like being allergic to horses and freaking out over a "Howdy Partner" sign The fact she booked pet friendly while being deathly allergic to cats is just \chef's kiss\ perfect
  • ktttt00 I have a canvas print of a cow in my NYC apartment, but that (sadly) doesn't mean I have a cow. If only...
